My Teaching Style


I'll make guitar fun

People always learn better when they're having fun. At our first lesson, we'll talk about the music you like and the songs you want to learn. Then, I'll personalize a ciriculum for you that uses your favorite songs to teach you all the guitar fundamentals.

Patient

The best teachers know there is a fine line between pushing your students too hard and not pushing them hard enough. I'll move at a speed you're comfortable with so that you don't get overwhelmed, all the while working to achieve new goals. I'm super patient with all my students and never get frustrated. Nobody wants you to succeed more than I do, and I'll take the extra time to make sure you understand the ideas I'm teaching.

I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into easy to understand bite-sized chunks. I work in a step by step method so that every concept you learn builds on the last.

I stress both the technical and theoretical sides of guitar

I find it's just as important to play the guitar well as it is to understand what it is you are playing. I'll show you both how to achieve awesome chops all the while teaching you the theory to understand the music. I'll show you how to have mastery over music and make it do exactly what you want.

Areas of interest:

I love all styles and can teach you whatever you want to learn. But if I had to pick my favorite areas of interest, it would have to be rock, both modern and classic, blues, funk, theory, and songwriting. Some of my favorite artists include The Beatles, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Weezer, The White Stripes, Van Halen, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, and more.
